Obsidian is an igneous rock consisting of volcanic glass; homogeneous volcanic glass that passed through the rapid cooling of molten rocks. obsidian deposits are located on the Lipari Islands, Iceland, Transcarpathia , Siberia, Central Asia, Transbaikalia, Primorye, in the Caucasus (Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan), Kamchatka , Kurilakh. The largest deposits in Mexico. Obsidian is a homogeneous glassy volcanic rock of dark tones, mined on Mount Ararat, it is black, gray, yellow, brown or red. Stones brown with black inclusions are called Persians, and gray-white stones are called "snowy" obsidians . For its dark color, obsidian was called "resin stone", and for its characteristic shine - "bottle stone".
